Diplomático – Planas | Venezuelan Rum

DESCRIPTION:
Diplomático Planas is the replacement for Diplomatico’s Blanco Reserva. Aged for six years, the same as its predecessor, the strength has been upped to 47%. The result is a rich and chewy rum with notes of cappuccino and a nutty finish.
TASTING NOTES:
Nose: Sweet initially, with marshmallows and barley sugar picking up pleasantly sour citrus notes as the rum sits in the glass. Buttery notes and a hint of mint develop over time.
Palate: The barley sugar from the nose leads on the palate, closely followed by candied citrus zest and sherbert lemons. Rich toffee notes come in behind that, contrasting with peppermint creams and grassy spice.
Finish: Short and sweet, with a burst of fluffy marshmallow quickly fading to soft spice and a hint of clove.
HISTORY:
Diplomático rums are distilled using a rich variety of methods, including divers continuous column stills for light rums, batch kettle for intermediate rums, and pot stills for more complex rums. The history of Diplomático began in Venezuela in 1959, with the establishment of the distillery where all of its rums are produced.
Today Diplomático is distributed in over 60 countries. It holds the “Ron de Venezuela” DOC (Protected Denomination of Origin) and is recognized as one of the finest rums in the world.
