Cacti, succulent and sanseveria can be damaged by keeping the soil too moist. Most cacti & succulents only need to be watered every two to three weeks, Ohler says, making them very easy to care for. Cacti Succulents thrive in dry soil that drains well. Too much moisture can cause root rot, causing decay and even death of the plant.

1. Watering infrequently. They’re a desert plant, so dry soil suits them just fine. (Water the plant when soil is dry.)

2. Use fast dry mix soil (avoid long moisture). Soil mix as it is sometimes referred to, is a blend of mainly inorganic materials such as sand, gravel, pumice, and/or perlite that is ideal for growing cacti and succulents thanks to its superior drainage.

3. Keep your plant in a bright, sunny spot.

4. Treating it to a fertilizer in the warmer months.

5. Popping in a stylish pot that shows off its cool silhouette.
